Do you love the look of mixed prints but are not sure how to get started? There are really no rules anymore when it comes to mixing patterns, and here are some pattern mixing 101 tips that can help you.
Always match colors rather than the print. I matched a striped taupe tee with a printed skirt that had a similar color for my outfit below.
Start with a simple print like stripes. Stripes are basically a neutral, and they go with virtually everything. You can pair stripes with floral, plaid, polka dots, animal print, and graphics.
A good way to ease into print mixing is to break up your outfit with a solid. I could pair the striped top with a solid color skirt and then add a printed scarf or bag for a more subtle look.
You can also try mixing different textures of the same color scheme and contrast between flowy and structured.
Have fun mixing prints, and remember, if it looks good and you’re comfortable in it, wear it!
