I checked out a few new beauty subscription services (here) but I decided to stay with Ipsy for now. I love the variety of brands and products and the majority are deluxe samples that I use, not throw in a drawer every month. If you aren’t familiar with Ipsy, it’s is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription where you get five full or deluxe size samples of cosmetic and beauty accessories in a cute makeup bag all for $10! The February theme was Pretty in Pink, which also happens to be one of my favorite 80’s films. The beaded bag with the heart is so cute and will be repurposed as a gift card holder.
Here’s what I got in my bag this month:
MOR Emporium Classics Hand & Body Lotion in Candied Vanilla
This rich hand cream kept my hands moisturized without feeling greasy. It smells great and the warm vanilla scent was light and not too strong.
Verdict:
Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment
Pigments are a fine loose powder and the main ingredient in eye shadow. I received the Sierra Nevada, an expresso brown shade. I’ve never tried pigments before and was worried that it would be a disaster but I found it was easy to apply. I shook a small amount into the cap and then used a flat eye shadow brush to pat onto my eyelid and then blended in. I was really happy with the results and will definitely be using this sample up.
Verdict:
Luxie Beauty Small Tapered Blending Eye Brush
Brushes can be pricey so I’m always excited when there’s one included in the bag! I used this to blend the mica pigment above. The bristles are soft and blends shadows well.
Verdict:
Chella Lipstick Pencil
After wearing dark plums all winter, the Passionate Pink shade is a nice shade and perfect for spring! It’s smooth and creamy, easy to apply and long lasting.
Verdict:
Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primer Oil
I’ve been curious about primer oils and was excited to try this product. It feels greasy when you first apply it, but after it absorbs, your skin glows, feels smooth and your makeup glides on. The downfall is that you need to wait 5 – 10 minutes for the product to absorb which doesn’t work on days I’m rushed. I’m giving it a thumbs up and was glad to try this but am not sure yet if I would purchase as my primer.
Verdict:
