Cold Weather Skincare Essentials

cold weather skincare essentials

I don’t know about you, but I have to swap out my skincare products seasonally, just as I do in my wardrobe. The moment the temperatures change, the air gets dryer, and my skin pays the price. Last winter, we went from cold to a polar vortex, and my skin suffered. I’m a step ahead of the game this year and have been doing nothing but hydration, hydration, hydration. Today I’m sharing my cold weather skincare essentials. Products I’m loving lately that have helped my skin in the cold, dry air!

winter skincare essentials

Face Mask: Summer Fridays Jet Leg Mask

This mask is great for when you’ve spent a day outside in the elements. Apply a thin layer, wait for 10 minutes, and then blot off any excess. Gotta love a mask that does not need to be rinsed or peeled off!

Primer: Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer

I noticed an immediate difference the first time I used this primer. It instantly smooths out fine lines and gives you a radiant glow. My tinted moisturizer lasted longer, and at the end of the day, my makeup still looked like I just applied it.

Facial Oil: Malin+Goetz Recovery Treatment Oil

This oil came in my Fall Causebox, and it is definitely something that I would purchase when it runs out. It’s composed of nine antioxidant-rich oils that brighten, and I add this to my moisturizer for a little hydration boost.

Overnight Treatment: Tula Beauty Sleep Overnight Repair Treatment

Another Tula product that I love! If your skin looks parched in the morning, try this overnight treatment. It has a lightweight yet rich consistency, smells fresh, and leaves my skin soft and dewy when I wake up.

Cleanser: Beautycounter Cleansing Balm

This cult classic is a game-changer, and I’ve been using it for over 2 years now. I love it because it removes all of my makeup, including lipstick and waterproof mascara! There’s no need to double cleanse! It also works great as a replenishing overnight mask.

Winter Lip Treatment:

Worse than dry skin in the winter months is dry lips. I exfoliate with French Girl Rose Lip Polish and follow up with Kari Gran Peppermint Lip Whip. It’s slightly tinted, so it’s great for daytime when you want a hint of color on your lips.

Hand/Body Cream: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

Sometimes my hands are so dry they feel like sandpaper. I originally purchased this for my daughter, who has eczema. This moisturizer works for all skin types and works wonders on dry, flakey skin.

My skin is so oily and then living in such a hot, humid climate I rarely have super dry skin. My hands do get dry though, I need to try that cream. I keep hearing great things about Tula products too but I’ve never tried them!

  13. I tend to use the same products in the summer that I do in the winter but I add heavier creams and lotions (kind of a 50/50 mix) in the winter. I’m using Gold Bond’s Ultimate Healing Hand Cream now (it comes in a nice purse-sized tube) and I always carry my Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm with me in both summer and winter. I loved reading about the products you’ve listed and the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer sounds really intriguing. I have a problem with eye makeup staying put. The rest of the face I don’t care so much because I can pinch my cheeks and get a little blush if I need it. I really hate to use most primers and powders because they settle into the lines and make it look even dryer. I will say that I won a lovely gift set by Korres a couple of months ago (thank you) and that I just ran out of the Wild Rose Vitamin C Spotless oil and need to get more ordered (I don’t have a problem with uneven tone or spots but it left a nice glow on my face). Their Greek Yogurt moisturizer and nighttime leave-on mask are wonderful.
