August Purchases | What I Bought

Did you have a good weekend? Mine was pretty relaxing. My next-door neighbor and I had our Friday happy hour ritual, and then my husband and I binge-watched Trial by Media on Netflix. On Saturday, I did some errand running with my daughter to get ready for back to school. Our neighbors have a big screen on their screen porch, and we had cocktails and watched The Runaways. When we finally can house hunt, a screen porch will definitely be one of my must-haves. Today I wanted to share my August purchases.

When I first started blogging years ago, I frequently posted about my monthly purchases to keep myself accountable to my budget. Since I love seeing what other bloggers are getting every month and thought it would be fun to start-up my Monthly Purchases posts again. My budget is $75/month, but working from home, I don’t necessarily need that many new things, so some months I don’t buy anything at all. Here are my August purchases. As you will see, I went way over this month due to two splurges from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

I’ve been wearing the BP faux leather leggings for years and always wanted the Spanx faux leather leggings. I finally splurged on a pair and have to say they are worth every penny. They fit like a glove, don’t stretch out or bag, and are super comfortable. I’ll be creating a post on multiple ways to wear them soon!

My other splurge item was the Barefoot Dreams Cardigan. I already had a Barefoot Dreams cardigan that I bought at the NSale back in 2014 (check out my post where my friend Laureen and I style it for every season). While my original is still in great shape, it’s lost some of its softness, and I love the circle shape and pockets on the new version.

I have a story about my Printed Tunic Dress. I wanted a similar dress from Anthropologie last winter, but the $168 price point was way outside of my budget. I patiently waited for it to get marked down, but it ended up selling out. When I saw this printed tunic dress on Amazon, it immediately reminded me of the Gillian Abstract Dress from Anthro. Do you think it’s similar too?

That’s a wrap for my August purchases. I’ve wanted to do a closet inventory, and now that we are headed into fall, there’s no better time. It will help me to see what I need to add to my wardrobe if anything at all. What’s on your September wishlist?
