Plaid Dress Outfit Ideas with Booties

I love a one-and-done outfit, don’t you? Some days picking out what to wear seems like a chore, and single-piece outfits make getting dressed effortless. Since I work from home, rompers have been my summer uniform. They’re easy to throw on and go, and you still look polished for those zoom meetings. Another one-and-done piece that fits the easy outfit formula is a dress. And since fall is right around the corner, today’s post is all about plaid dress outfit ideas.

A Favorite Affordable Fall Outfit

I wore this outfit last weekend and got so many compliments on it. The best thing about this look is its affordable fall outfit. Head to toe, including the shoes and bag, is under $100. I shared a similar dress from the same brand last year. It’s stood the test of time, so I decided to repurchase it in the plaid print. It’s airy enough to wear when it’s still warm outside and is the perfect transition piece as the temps cool. This outfit is perfect for a fall date night outfit, casual work outfit or even brunch with your girlfriends.

How to Style a Plaid Dress

When choosing fall clothes, I always lean towards plaid. You can wear plaid year round, but there’s something about the cooler fall weather that makes me reach for it more than other seasons. The great thing about this plaid dress is that the neutral colors look good with almost everything.

There are so many styling options if you like to print mix. Remember to pair with complementary colors and tones. For example, this dress would look cute styled with a tan and white or black and white striped long-line cardigan. If you want to create a unique look, try print mixing with an animal print. Floral patterns are a great choice too. Fall is all about textures, and herringbone or cable-knit tights would be a fun addition to this look.

Where to Find Affordable Fall Dresses

My plaid dress is from Amazon. It runs true to size; for reference, I’m wearing a small. It also comes in multiple print options as well. Old Navy is one of my go-to stores to find affordable dresses. Mango is another online boutique I like for budget-friendly fashion. They have some cute plaid dresses right now, and I love this one.

Wearing Booties With a Dress

Booties are one of the best shoe options because you can wear them year-round, and yes, they look great with dresses. Pair it with a neutral bootie like brown, tan, or black to keep the center of attention on your dress. If you want to elongate your legs, go with a nude color bootie with a slight heel. Side note, I find block heels easier to walk in. My booties are from Target and a great dupe to higher prices brands.
