We all know shorts are a warm weather staple. But when you think of shorts, do you immediately think of a casual outfit styled with a graphic tee and sneakers? Or maybe a pair of Bermuda shorts with a tank top and sandals? What about dressy shorts and a more elevated look? Today’s post is all about how to style a dressy shorts outfit.

Dressy shorts are a refreshing change from a skirt and are more comfortable than tailored pants. They’re a great option for an evening out or even for a business casual office dress code. I recently ordered these shorts and a matching blazer from Gibsonlook and wore them for our family’s Easter brunch last weekend. Both pieces are super soft and comfortable. The shorts are lined and have a flattering fit. Wearing them together gives you a cool monochrome look.

How to Style a Dressy Shorts Outfit

I planned on wearing the matching blazer for this look, so I styled my shorts with a tank-style bodysuit. A solid-color tee or lightweight crew neck sweater would also look cute with this shorts and blazer set.  To style the shorts and blazer for work in the summer, pair the set with a white button-up shirt or silky blouse to make the dressy shorts outfit appropriate for a business casual environment.

Best Shoes to Wear with a Blazer and Shorts

The great thing about this dressy shorts and blazer set is its versatility. For my outfit, I opted for high-top sneakers to dress the look down. If you have a date night planned, style the outfit with heels or open-toe booties. For lunch with friends and a little shopping, go for flat sandals. To make the shorts suit look more professional, choose sling-backs with a low heel.

More Styling Ideas

The best thing about these pieces is that you can wear them as separates too. Forgo the blazer and wear the dressy shorts with a blouse, dressy or casual tee, or even a cropped cardigan.
