April Style Challenge – Week 4

This was the final week of the April Style Confessions challenge hosted by Sequins & Style and That’s So Crystal.  Initially, I was not sure if I could be creative enough to style an outfit for each days theme and was going to take it one day at a time.  I was surprised that this challenge actually made it easier to get dressed. Knowing what the theme was ahead of time allowed me to plan out my outfits in advance.  Never once was I staring at my clothes wondering what to wear or thinking I had nothing to wear.

She’s My Uptown Girly Girl

It was nice enough this week to take photo’s outside and since the Hubs was home, I designated him my new photographer.  I have to say, these look way better than when I take pictures with the timer on my camera!

Smitten with Scarves

If there is only one accessory you can buy, get a scarf.  They dress up a simple tee, keep you warm in the winter and are great in the summer when you are someplace where the air conditioning is blasting. This is an item you don’t have to splurge on and there are so many cute options you can find at stores like Forever 21 and Target.

Out to Sea

This nautical sweater was another dupe of a deal.  I bought it a few months ago using my Banana Republic rewards and it ended up costing me $1.49.

Sweater: Old Navy

Top: JCrew

Pants: Anthropologie

Sunnies: Ray Ban

Sneakers: Converse

Buzzing Like Neon

The neon trend is fun but I don’t have anything neon in my closet.  I was able to pull this outfit together using a bright orange top and yellow scarf.

Sneakers: Coach

Why Did I Buy This?

This skirt was one of those purchases I had to have, probably paid too much and then it sat in my closet for at least 3 years without being worn.  I had a meeting for work and needed to be dressed in business casual so I decided it was the perfect time to finally wear it.

Skirt: Citizens for Humanity

Belt: American Eagle

Necklace: Hot Moma

Blame it on the Blazer

This is a funny picture. I was patiently waiting for the Hubs to take my photo before he had to leave for work. I rarely wear blazers and only have a few left from the days I had to wear business attire daily. This one is an oldie but goodie. You can’t see the detail but it has cute pockets and is styled more like a shirt. I remember buying it at Marshall Fields (sigh! it used to be my favorite place to shop).

Blazer: Kenar

Tee: JCrew Factory

Jeans: Gap

Necklaces: Stella & Dot

Sneakers: Converse

There are several style challenges for May on Instagram.  If you are interested in trying one, definitely check them out.  You don’t have to have a shopping ban to participate, it was just something I committed myself to.
