I visit my sister in Las Vegas every October and think it’s one of the best times to visit the city. With the sweltering summer heat cooling down, it’s easier to explore and enjoy all that Vegas has to offer. Chicago weather is unpredictable this time of year, and I find it even more challenging to know how to dress in Vegas because the days are still in the 70s-80s, and the evenings get down to the 50s.
The great thing, though, about Vegas is that you see everything fashion-wise, from people wearing jeans and a tee to people decked out to the nines.
Generally, I’m a chronic over-packer, but I think I did pretty well on this trip. I packed versatile pieces that I could wear for both day and night by swapping out shoes and accessories. Instead of loading up on different coats and sweater options, I only packed two layering pieces: a cardigan and a moto jacket for cooler evenings.
Here’s what I wore on my trip last week to give you some ideas on how to dress in Vegas.
What to Wear in Las Vegas in Late October
Friday night: Halloween parade and dinner
On Friday night, it was pretty warm. We went to a really fun Halloween Parade. The parade featured different themed floats, including an alien pod, a Dรญa de los Muertos float, and an Addams Family float. Each float had a themed dance routine performed by a local dance company. After the parade, we grabbed dinner at a neighborhood restaurant and ended the night at a swanky art deco lounge with live music.
You know my love for leopard print, so these jeans were number two (more on number one below) on my packing list. I got them a few weekends ago while shopping at a local boutique with the Blonde Squad. What I love about these jeans is that they are extremely stretchy so I could eat whatever I wanted and still be comfortable.
Saturday afternoon: vintage market
On Saturday afternoon, my sister and I wandered around a vintage market. I had my eye on so many cool finds, like an amazing pair of vintage orange Christian Louboutin heels (similar here). The 80-degree temps called for a tank top and shorts. I added a necklace and a few bracelets from Allie & Bess (code JILL20 for 20% off) to dress up my outfit a little bit.
Saturday night: vegas show
My sister and her husband knew a few couples in town, so they joined us for cocktails and apps by the pool on Saturday evening. Then, we all piled into a limo (cheaper than Uber) to head to the strip for the Absinthe show at Ceaser’s.
My friend Caroline shared this dress in a Friday Favorites post a few months ago, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect to wear in Vegas and for my upcoming birthday. This dress is easy to wear casually too with fashion sneakers and a moto jacket.

sunday: poolside football & sister’s birthday
Saturday was a very late night. We went to several speakeasies after the show and got back around 1 am (I’m usually fast asleep by ten on weekends). So, we spent most of Sunday lounging and watching football poolside. We celebrated my sister’s birthday that evening, so I changed from loungewear to this outfit. It was warm during the day but was getting chilly, so I topped my tank and shorts with a lady sweater.
monday: day date
My sister and her husband were working on Monday, so I had a day date with my husband. We had lunch at an Oyster Bar and walked around one of the casinos to do some people-watching. The oysters were so delicious, and I followed that up with a lobster roll, which was equally yummy!
There was an extreme wind advisory, and I couldn’t decide if I was hot or cold, so I settled on slouchy jeans and a one-shoulder top for my outfit.

Monday evening: dinner in old Las Vegas
Monday night, we went to Fremont Street in old Las Vegas, had dinner (which was mediocre, so that made me want to stay an extra night – the last night meal should be amazing, in my opinion), and walked around.
Lots of interesting people watching in this area. Some random guy was walking around with a snake. Of course, my chatty husband says to him, “Nice snake,” and the next thing you know, the guy puts it around his shoulders. Yuck! Things got better after that because we went up to the Legacy Club on the rooftop of the Circa Hotel for a cocktail. I had never been there before but it is now my favorite rooftop lounge because of the amazing views.
I love a one-and-done outfit, so I put this Target jumpsuit into my travel rotation. The winds really picked up that night, so I layered a long-sleeved tee underneath it.
That wraps up how to dress in Vegas and what I wore on my recent trip. Which outfit is your favorite? Have you ever been to Las Vegas? Let me know in the comments!
