Must Have Spring Shoes

If you’ve been following along with me for a while, you know that shoes are my weakness. And with today being the first day of spring, I’m looking forward to swapping out my winter boots for something lighter and fresher. This year’s spring shoe trends are a fun mix of throwback styles and modern updates. Think elevated classics, woven textures, and surprisingly chic clogs. If you’re wondering which styles are actually worth adding to your closet (I know I’m having a hard time narrowing them down), here are the must-have spring shoes for 2025 and how to wear them with your everyday style.

Braided, Woven, and Mesh

Braided, woven, and mesh details are making a big comeback this spring. These textures give off a relaxed, beachy vibe while adding visual interest to any outfit. We last saw a wave of woven styles in the early 2010s when espadrilles and raffia sandals were everywhere. Now they’re back but with a modern twist, sleeker and more minimalist.

How to wear them:

  • Pair fisherman sandals with a flowy midi dress or linen pants.
  • Woven flats look great with cropped jeans and a lightweight button-down.
  • Try mesh espadrilles with a monochrome outfit to let the texture stand out.

Clog-Inspired Shoes

Yes, clogs are back, and they’re chicer than ever. These are not your Dr Scholl’s from the 1980s that made a brief resurgence in the early 2000s. This time around, they have a sleeker, more refined look. Wooden soles, soft leather uppers, and unexpected details like buckles and studs give them a fresh feel.

How to wear them:

  • Style heeled clogs with wide-leg jeans and a tucked-in blouse.
  • Flat clogs work well with ankle-length trousers and a relaxed knit top.
  • Try open-back clogs with a denim midi skirt and a fitted tank.

Boat Shoes

Boat shoes are no longer just for preppy summer looks. They’ve been updated with softer fabrics, bold colors, and unexpected textures. They first became popular in the ‘80s as part of the preppy fashion wave and came back for a short stint in the mid-2010’s, but today’s versions feel more versatile and stylish.

How to wear them:

  • Pair them with tailored shorts and a button-down shirt.
  • Style them with ankle jeans and a striped sweater.
  • Opt for neutral tones to keep them understated, or go bold with a pop of color.

Lace-Up Shoes

Lace-up details are showing up on everything from sandals to flats, adding a feminine touch to spring outfits. This trend last peaked in the mid-2010s with gladiator sandals and lace-up flats, but the 2025 version is more delicate and modern.

How to wear them:

  • Lace-up flats look chic with cropped trousers and a flowy blouse.
  • Try lace-up heels with a midi slip dress.
  • Lace-up sandals pair beautifully with a boho maxi dress or denim shorts.

Loafers

Loafers remain a staple, but this spring’s styles feature unexpected textures, bold hardware, and chunky soles. We last saw chunky loafers trending in the early 2020s, but the 2025 version combines comfort with a polished look.

How to wear them:

  • Pair classic loafers with ankle jeans and a striped tee.
  • Try chunky loafers with a pleated skirt and a fitted sweater.
  • Patent leather loafers elevate a simple jeans-and-tee outfit.

Peep Toes

Peep toes updated versions featuring square toes, soft leather, and delicate straps that feel more sophisticated than their earlier counterparts.

How to wear them:

  • Pair peep-toe heels with tailored trousers and a cropped jacket.
  • Flat peep-toe slides work well with a maxi dress or skirt.
  • Try peep-toe booties with cuffed jeans and a lightweight sweater.

I love all these shoes except clogs and lace up. I got rid of my lace up shoes from the first time around. The long laces drove me nuts :). Thanks for the heads up about what will be trending this spring! And thanks for the party too!

I need (want) more Spring shoes this year more than ever before, lol. Such great tips on trends for the season!

  5. This was such a fun post. Honestly I hadn't even looked to see what was trending and all of these shoe options sound like something I want to add. Super excited about peep-toe coming back and also the woven style. I've also been wanting a pair of clogs for a few seasons now but just haven't come across them here in Canada. Thanks for all the fun tips and now I can start my search.

The one pair of shoes that I would like to add is a pair of clogs. Otherwise, I feel like my spring shoe collection is pretty complete, I don't have any of the shoes that are on trend, but I don't feel like they are my style and that I would wear them enough to buy them. Clogs, though, I have wanted a pretty pair for a couple of years!

  13. Oh, my gosh! I had to chuckle about the wooden sole clogs! I wore them in high school back in the 70s as did every other girl. The hallways were so noisy because, of course, they weren't carpeted then. I would love a pair of ballet flats or Mary Janes, but they have to have lots of support. I'm still looking. Thanks so much for the link up!
