Spring Decor Updates – Before & After

I have a thing about rearranging furniture. Our old home was on the smaller side so it wasn’t always easy, but in our rent home, we have so much space. I’m happy to be able to switch things up every season! Both our living and family rooms needed a refresh for spring and with limited dollars in the budget, Iย had to findย inspiration from what we already had. I’ve always thought that our cowhide rug was better suited for the family room so instead of just moving the rugs, I decided to flip flop the furniture too.

We were using the formal living room as our family room. With the switch-off, the room now feels bright and airy. Using the blue from our side cabinet as my base color, I swapped out complementary accessories from other rooms in the house. Stacking books is always an easy way to add dimension. The frame came from my office and the little plant was in our entryway. I updated the topiary on the side table with burlap ribbon and the bunnies are brought out every year for spring and Easter.

What’s new in this room:

Ceramic bluebird on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $1.50

White patterned pillows on the couch and big chair on clearance at Target for $5.00 each

Metal circular tray $3.00 in Target Dollar Spot

Total spent: $19.50

The stone fireplace gives this room a rustic vibe and with the furniture swapped, it’s now a cozy little family room. The bookcase was in need of a refresh so I looked for accents that had more of a rustic industrial feel. Our last home had a huge wall of built-ins so I have an abundance of cute frames. The birdcage and ceramic bird were found in storage in the basement. The fun Hello sign is a Target find and I added a few cherry blossom stems to the vase next to the fireplace. The tray on the plaid bench is decorated with a gong, a vintage sphere and a small vase filled with lavender stems. Most of these things I had forgotten about since our move so it was nice to blend them back into our decor again.

Metal flower vase $3 from Target dollar spot

Cherry blossom stems from Hobby Lobby on sale for $2 each

I feel like this new arrangement creates a more comfortable living space for my family. The family room is now the hang out room for watching TV and relaxing and the living room is the perfect space for entertaining and socializing. Now if we were only able to paint…
