Hey everyone! Happy New Year! I hope you had a fabulous holiday! I’m excited to be back! If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that I’ve subscribed to Ipsy for over a year and a half. While I like the service, I know there are other subscription boxes out there, and I wanted to try something new. I tried Birchbox in the past but wasn’t a fan, so in  November, I signed up for Beauty Box 5 and Beauty Fix. Read on to hear more about these beauty subscription services!

 

Beauty Box Review

Beauty Fix

The Beauty Fix subscription is $24.95 ($12.50 for your first box) and includes free shipping for six plus deluxe samples and full-size products valued at $100 or more.

 

 

What Was Inside the Beauty Fix Box

Dermstore Eye Love You Brush Set. Retail $15.

This cute travel-size eye brush set included fan, shadow, and smudge brushes. The bristles were soft and did not shed.

Verdict: 

Tocca Beauty Crema Da Mano Hand Cream. Retail $10.

I need a rich hand cream during the winter, and this product did a great job locking in moisture. It smelled great too!

Verdict: 

Glytone Antioxidant Anti-Aging Night Cream. Retail $90.

This non-greasy night cream had a clean, fresh smell. My skin looked brighter and well-hydrated in the morning.

Verdict: 

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Teasing Dust. Retail $23 for .38 oz. 

This volumizing powder does double duty as a dry shampoo. It removes oils and left my hair soft, smooth, and full of volume.

Verdict: 

Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist. Retail $38.

This can be used as a toner to calm and hydrate your skin or as a pick-me-up to refresh your skin during the day.

Verdict: 

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask. Retail $55.

Made of natural ingredients, this mask exfoliates your skin, giving you a nice glow. It smells incredible too!

Verdict: 

Dermelect Me Nail Polish. Retail $14.

This was a full-size polish in a fun blue color. It’s made with keratin proteins to help prevent peeling and chipping. My polish did last a few extra days.

Verdict: 

Skinclinical Extreme Healing Daily Treatment. Retail $39.95.

This body moisturizer promises to heal dry skin, make skin more resilient, increase elasticity, and improve circulation. It’s lightweight and creates a barrier on your skin to retain moisture. My skin still felt soft at the end of the day.

Final Thoughts on Beauty Fix

Even though this service is pricier than most, it’s worth the $24.95/month. The brush set, hand cream, teasing dust, and polish retail for $62, and I loved the mix of high-end products. I’m still deciding if I want to work this into my budget for the new year. Stay tuned!

 

Beauty Box 5

The Beauty Box 5 subscription is $12/month and includes free shipping for 4-5 deluxe samples and full-size products, usually featuring drugstore brands.

 

 

What’s Inside the Beauty Box 5

LA Fresh good day day moisturizer. Retail $40.

This anti-aging moisturizer is made with natural ingredients and promises to hydrate your skin and give it a fresher appearance. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and the cucumber smell is refreshing.

Verdict: 

Kaunis Facial Mask. Retail $14.95.

I love the concept of sheet masks, but this one had a strong rose scent that was not for me. It also had an expiration date of January 2016. It’s pricey, and other masks out there do the trick for a lower price point.

Verdict: 

Altchek MD Gel Eye Pads (set of 2). Retail $20.

These gel pads are easy to use and promise to leave your eye area refreshed and hydrated. I had high hopes for this, but my eyes did not appear refreshed afterward.

Verdict: 

Moodmatcher Luxe Twist Stick. Retail $8.

This full-size matte lipstick crayon claims to react with your lips to create a unique shade just for you. While I liked the color, when my daughter tried it, the shade was the same. It promises 12 hours of lasting power, and it did hold up.

Verdict: 

The All NaturalFace Vegan Matte Cream Lip and Cheek Color. Retail $5.75.

I received a full-size product in the Dusky Rose shade. I like cream-based cheek products in the winter, but the shade was too dark for my skintone and did not apply or blend easily.

Is Beauty Box 5 Worth It?

Overall, the Beauty Box 5 subscription box was okay. Unlike other subscription boxes, this one cannot be customized, and everyone receives the same products. Three of the five products were full size and retailed for a total of $28.70, so it paid for the box; however, the products seemed old, and I was not impressed with the makeup brands they sent. I ended up canceling the service after the first month.
