Get the Look for Less – Striped Sweater

get the look for less

La Ligne’s iconic Marin sweater has earned a cult following for its classic stripe design, high-quality materials, excellent fit, and attention to detail. It’s effortlessly stylish, but at the $350 price tag, it’s not the most budget-friendly option. The good news? You don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve the same look. I found a great alternative that captures the essence of the original without the steep price tag.

This sweater’s appeal lies in its classic design. The rainbow stripes add personality to any outfit, making it an easy statement piece. An affordable option to get the look for less is this sweater. It’s priced under $40 and mirrors the La Linge version with a similar color scheme and relaxed fit. Note the splurge option is cashmere, and the save option is an acrylic/rayon blend. It’s a substantial knit that pairs seamlessly with a range of outfits.

How to Wear Your Striped Sweater

Here’s the storyboard I created when I first came across the affordable option. To get the look for less, I styled the striped sweater with jeans and booties for an elevated casual look. For a more laid-back look, swap the booties for sneakers. Another styling option would be to wear over a button-up shirt with trousers and loafers for a refined look. Or, belt the sweater and pair it with a midi skirt and tall boots.

That wraps up how to get the look for less! If you love the bold, cheerful aesthetic of the La Ligne Marin Sweater but prefer a more budget-conscious option, the Amazon sweater is an excellent choice. Would you splurge on the original or go for the save? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I'd choose the cheaper version as the stripes are a bit brighter. Both of them are very desirable!

  2. The sweater is fabulous! I cannot get over how close this dupe is. This look is perfect to transition into spring!

  12. I love the comparison you've shown. You look fantastic in it, and I love the way you've styled it. I do shy away from acrylic sweaters as they make me itch for some reason. Thanks for the link up. I hope you'll join us for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

  17. The sweater is so cute, it looks great on you!

  18. sweetallysum

I don't do horizontal stripes because they make me look wide and square…not dignified at all.

  19. sweetallysum

Same here, the closest I can tolerate is a three quarter length light cotton knit.

  20. sweetallysum

Nonsense, stripes totally make most people think of prison wear.

  21. Love this comparison! The La Ligne Marin sweater is such a classic, but I’m all for finding budget-friendly alternatives without sacrificing style. The Amazon sweater looks like a great match—especially for under $40! I’d definitely go for the save option since it’s such a versatile piece that can be styled in so many ways. I love how you gave ideas for both casual and more polished looks. Definitely a win-win! Would you recommend sizing up for a looser fit?

  22. Such a cute sweater. I love the bright stripes
