Spanx Air Essentials Review

The Spanx Air Essentials collection is known for being the ultimate in comfortable yet elevated loungewear. Its lightweight fabric and relaxed silhouette are designed to blur the line between casual and polished. But with similar options at lower price points, is the Spanx set really worth the investment? Keep reading for my Spanx Air Essentials review.

I tested the Spanx Air Essentials, Amazon Anrabess Two-Piece Sweatshirt Lounge Set, and Target All in Motion Airy Sleek Ribbed Half-Zip Pullover and Wide Leg Pants to compare fabric, fit, and overall value. Here’s how they stack up.

Spanx Air Essentials ½ Zip Pullover & Wide Leg Pants

spanx air essentials review

At first wear, the Spanx Air Essentials pullover and wide-leg pants live up to their name. The fabric is soft, slightly structured, and drapes beautifully. It holds its shape throughout the day. The pants don’t have pockets, which gives them an elevated feel. Unlike typical loungewear, this set works just as well for running errands or casual outings as it does for relaxing at home.

Fabric: 47% Tencel, Modal, 46% Polyester, 7% Elastane

Pros: The wrinkle-free fabric is soft and breathable, the fit is relaxed yet polished, and it’s easy to dress up or down.

Cons: At over $100 per piece, it’s an investment.

The Anrabess set has a similar half-zip and wide-leg silhouette but at a fraction of the cost. The fabric is also soft and comfortable but doesn’t drape like the Spanx Air Essentials. It’s more of a running errands or lounging set rather than a versatile day-to-night option.

Fabric makeup: 50% rayon, 45% polyester and 5% spandex

Pros: It’s budget-friendly, and the relaxed fit is comfortable and similar to the Spanx.

Cons: The fabric is thinner, and the fit is less tailored.

Target’s take on this style has a ribbed texture, giving it a more athletic feel. The fabric is stretchy and comfortable, making it a good everyday option. However, it doesn’t have the same luxurious drape as Spanx, and the ribbed material creates a different overall look.

Fabric makeup: 68% Recycled Polyester, 26% Rayon, 6% Spandex

Pros: The $30 per piece price tag is an affordable option. The material gives it a sporty vibe.

Cons: It doesn’t have the same elevated feel as Spanx.

Which One is Worth It?

If you want a luxe, polished loungewear set, Spanx Air Essentials delivers. The fit, fabric, and versatility make it worth considering—especially if you wear loungewear beyond the house.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative, the Anrabess set is a solid choice for comfort, though it lacks the refined look of Spanx.

If you prefer a sportier, more structured vibe, Target’s All in Motion set offers a stylish and practical option at a lower price.

I have an Amazon version of the set and really only wear the pants. I guess I am not much of a set person. I do love this soft buttery feel. Looking at these pictures, I really think that the spanx version is the best, but I don't think I would wear it enough to justify the price. I always love it on every one I see wearing it though!

I have a 2 piece set from Anrabess and I like it, works just fine for working from home, running errands, etc. But the Spanx Air Essentials is hard to beat! I wish it wasn't so pricey! This was such a good comparison, thanks for this Jill!

  3. I love that you compared all these sets! I'm obsessed with my Spanx set and wear the pieces all the time. Thanks so much for the link up!

  4. The Spanx set definitely edges it, you can see the fabric is soft and drapes well. Definitely interested!

  5. I love the comparison of these very similar sets! Sometimes you really have to see/try them on to see what the difference really amounts to.

I’ve been waiting for this post! I too own both kinds. The Amazon pieces totally work but man I love my AirEssentials. The new colors are dreamy but my black set will always be my fav. So perfect for travel.

The Spanx one definitely looks the best too. I purchased a leisure set at TJMaxx I really like. I don't remember the brand but it sure is soft and comfy.

  8. It looks really nice on you!

  9. Thanks for the comparison! This was a really well done post, Jill! I agree the Spanx set is so much nicer, but I probably wouldn't wear either of the sets that often. And, since I'm only 5'1" there's the issue of hemming. Thanks for the link up, too!

  12. I love how the first two look on you the most. I mean you usually do get what you pay for but not everything is a must have and only a person can decide that for themselves. I really liked this comparison and I think I would likely go with option #2 just because I wear leisure wear less often than work wear so that's where I would tend to spend a little more.

  13. Appreciate this review. I purchased several Amazon matched sets early in the fall because I could get the wide leg pants over my orthopedic boot. They are so comfortable and yet look nice enough that I can wear them to Walmart (!) after the gym. That works for me. The Spanx set looks gorgeous on your cute figure but the other sets look equally nice. You could wear a potato sack and look stunning and stylish.

  14. I was just browsing yesterday for a new lounge set. And had my eye on a similar one! Looks good!

  15. The Spanx looks great on you! I do not own anything of Spanx, but always wanted to, just can’t get myself to pay that just yet. I keep looking for sales when I think to!
